Simon Capon

Coach, Founder of Scherma Australia

Head coach Simon is the former NSW Head Epee Coach, and the Australian Assistant National  Coach.

A member of the Australian National Foil team from 2012-2016, Simon immediately began coaching at a world level, leading Australian teams in multiple world cups across Europe and Asia.

In late 2017, Simon took the roll of NSW Head Epee Coach, and was tasked with creating a new generation to fill a void within the ranks of the state. His success in the new position led him to taking teams of now Epeeists over to World Cups and World Championships, as well as coaching the 2023 Open National Champion. Recently he has stepped away from the role, devoting his efforts to his students directly.

He is known for his scientific and conceptual approach to learning and physical development, and his radical new coaching style has proved extremely effective, with his team winning many State, Australian, and international medals, even to open age categories, despite its relative youth.

With multiple of his students now achieving #1 Rankings in the country, as well as top 50 rankings in the world, Simon has cemented himself as one of the premier epee coaches in Australia
